Death

When you die in Ethyrial, a number of factors play into determining exactly what happens with your character. The primary points that affect if you will drop any items or lose experience are:

  • Recent Deaths
The more times your character dies within a given timeframe, the more penalizing your death will be. Typically, one death refresh occurs approximately every 2 hours (even while offline). This encourages players to take more risks if their recent death count is low, as they will be highly protected against any loot or xp loss.

  • Anti Griefing Systems
There are a number of anti-griefing systems within the game to keep you from dropping items or experience. These are primarily based around protecting law-abiding players with low Infamy.

 1. Level Disparity
If the level between the player(s) involved in killing you is much higher than your own, your experience loss will be zero and your chance to drop items extremely low.
 2. Numbers Advantage
If you are getting attacked by several players simultaneously, and the number of you and your allies involved in the battle is drastically lower than your enemies, you are also protected from losing a lot of experience
   and items.
  • Infamy
Players with high infamy will have an increased chance to drop items and lose experience on death.
